870 barrel change question

i have an 870 super mag with 26" barrel. i am planning a trip to go hog hunting. we will be hunting behind dogs in the timber and the guys say 12 ga slugs are the weapon of choice. so now i am looking for a cheap, short barrel to put on my gun. i really don't care if it's smooth bore, choked, or rifled, but my question is......

will a barrel made for 2 3/4 inch only or 2 3/4 & 3 inch shells only work on my super mag receiver? obviously i would only be able to shoot shells as big as the barrel will let me, but i just wasn't sure if all 870 barrels will fit on all 870 receivers.

Yep, they'll fit!

About shell length, you already understand what seems to bewilder some folks.

You may have noticed, many of the factory replacement barrels are available only in a 3"|2-3/4" configuration. With some barrels, mixing old and new, there may be an minor issue about the mag cap retention. I understand, the new gun's caps are different from my old Remington stick gun
