Red Dot Sight Zero ON AR-15

I just bought an Aimpoint CompM4 does anyone know what distance the Army zeros there sight 50yds,75yds, 100yds???

Or those with this sight or any red dot sight what distance do you zero your sight?

A 50 yard zero should take care of you just fine out to 300 hards. Zero at the top of the dot at 50 and the round will crest about 1.6" higher around 130-140 and should remain within the dot (assuming 2 moa dot) out to about 280-290 and just just below at 3000. YMMV depending on how high the scope is mounted above the bore axis and type, weight, and velocity of the rounds being fired.

The Army zeros them at 25m which puts it at approximately the same point of impact at 300m with the ballistics of the Army's ammo. It works pretty well, last time I qualified with an M4 and an Aimpoint Comp M2 I was able to hold the dot center mass on all targets (50m, 100m, 150m, 200m 250m and 300m) and shot 39 out of 40. Enjoy the Comp M4 it's a great sight.

The Army zero works fine for 20"x40" e-silhouettes; but the 50yd zero is better. It gives you a nice flat trajectory from 0-225 and then you use the bottom of the 4 MOA dot for 300m.

How do I zero the a red dot mounted on a flat top receiver?

I just did mine last Saturday but fairly simple trick. shoot a group of say 5-10 and see where the POI is then hold the rifle steady on a rest and aim dead center of target. Now keeping rifle steady as you can click the sigh over until it is where you group of shots were hitting.(elevation first then windage adjustment). Then fire you another group and should be very close to dead center of the target. Worked for me and is very quick and doesn't waste ammo
