Rem 760 buttstock question....
Do they interchange with a 12ga 870 buttstock?

No, but a 20 guage LWT 870 stock will fit.

I tried the same thing, and found out the shotgun stock has much more drop towards the heel than the rifle stock. The shotgun stock is too low to use the sights and keep a cheek-weld, and it is really low with a scope.
