fishing with a pistol

I am new to carrying a pistol while recreating in the outdoors.
I have deer hunted bird hunted exetera.I mostly fish salmon ,stealhead, trout
so i do alot of wading in rivers.I just got a blackhawk chest harness style
holster for my poly 9mm.so that being said i was just wondering if there
was a better option.Pistol is behind chest of waders but not cocealed,
i dont really want to conceal it,im not fishing within city limits.

fish,hunt,and be free

wow, I read the title and got scared, thought you meant using a pistol in lieu of a pole. Check packing.org for more info on carry in your state. In my area fish and game doesn't have a problem with open carry in the woods, but they may in yours, I'd give them a call.

Fishin with a pistol

I hoped that title would get some attention . Inside the city
limits is the only place around here you cant open carry.
Sense portland is one of those very librealy run citys .
But luckly you dont have to go more than 20 minutes from downtown to hit the river and another county.
Fish,hunt,and be free

Reminds me of trout fishing in the creeks of northern New Mexico
many years ago. They just weren't biting, so I tried a few shots
from about 10 to 12 feet with a 44mag. It is very effective !

One of my favorite things to do in the summer is take my .22 pistol and shoot carp and gar. i've got a couple of ditches / shallow sloughs on my property nad in the heat of the summer these trash fish will swim rear the surface sometimes breaking the water to breathe air. i've got bridges over a couple of these spots. get up on the bridge with a .22 and polarized glasses and have fun. That's my idea of fishing w/a pistol.

When I was on the Lightship New Orleans in the Gulf of Mexico we had a 1911 with ihe Ace 22 conversion and in the mornings I would shoot Small fish just as they broke the surface.

Packing.ORG is no longer around.

I use to carry a nine shot Taurus 94 revolver, loaded with shot shells, in my tackle box. Had to use it several times on moccasins who wanted to board. Worked.

You will need to check your local laws, with the D.N.R. , Police Department etc. Make sure they are all on the same page. Good luck.
