Dove - Handicap Shells?

I was looking at Cabelas and see that handicap shells offer higher speed with the same shot weight as regular loads. Any reason not to use them for dove shoots?

What's your anticipated environment? Around here, they're in close and standard and light skeet loads work perfectly. Heavy trap loads wouldn't leave me much; but, your conditions may differ.

Nope.

Here's the deal....

Trap and target loads have harder, rounder shot that hit a bit harder, kill more humanely and up our bird/shell ratios a teensy bit.

I've used trap loads since the 60s for dove and such.

Sure they cost a bit more than the generics. I use those for quail where the soft pellets are a better choice for close range spread on fast moving but vulnerable birds.

One of the big advantages of the shotgun here and now is its versatility. Tailoring the load to the mission is part of the benefits.

Thanks for the input. We hunt a large field in south AL and typically the range gets further by the hour.

10-4. Dove learn amazingly fast on opening day.

One can either fume over the birds Way Out Dere or use the situation to work on long crossers.

I had one spot where AA trap 7.5s, a Full choke and some time really improved my abilities on longer passing shots.
