Porting a 3" .44 magnum
I am thinking about having my 3" 629 ported. Is this a good idea or a bad one? Does it weaken the barrel?

Will reduce muzzle flip, I am sure the company that does it will guarantee their work, and it will let high pressure jets of gas escape upwards as well as out the end of the barrel, possibly making the gun seem louder to you. Try the grips first. Cheaper!

porting
Sir
I would not do it. Although I own a Taurus mod. 44 which is already factory ported I would never have it done. I feel the effect is negligable and the muzzle blast is increased. No, it will not weaken your barrel. At night, or in dusky light conditions the flash will blind your vision momentarilly. Harry B. |
