Marlin 1895 cowboy gun

This is the 45 colt model. The tube is limited to 10 rounds. What do I need to do to make that more like 14?

I don' think you're going to get 14 rounds in that tube. You can cut a couple of coils off the spring and shorten the follower and get maybe one more round without sacrificing reliability.

I thought that it had a plug or some such to make it California legal. And, yeah my mistake, it's an 1894. With that 24 inch barrel and magazine I though that there was a lot more space.

hi charleym3,, take the plug out,,,there should be a screw on the end of the mag tube on the muzzle end,,,put your thumb on the end of the mag tube and hold it in,,, take the screw out,,,hold on to that plug or it will get launched,,,,relieve the spring and the plug should come out with the spring,,,take it out and reinstall the spring,,cap and screw,,no need to cut the spring,,

this will only apply to the cowboy model

don't know if you will get 14 in the tube or not but it will be more than 10

hope this helps

Thanks very much. I'll let you know how may fit after the plug-ectomy.
