new 1911 parts fit

I'm trying to fit a beavertail grip saftey on my Colt. I saw a wilson grip saftey for it. Is it hard fitting a new grip saftey, or is it easy?

I'm also thinking about changing the hammer(STI), the sear(Wilson), trigger(STI), The Mainspring housing(Ed Brown) an Ambi Saftey(STI), an extended slide lock(STI) a oversized mag release(STI), some new grips(undecided) and some polished grip screws. Is all those things hard to fit on?

Most beavertails require you to file the frame behind the thumb safety pin before they will fit. Templates are available, from Brown I think, for doing this with files. You then need to refinish the bare steel.

There also used to be one make of beavertail that didn't require the filing. I'd have to look it up. I don't know if Wilson makes one? It worked by wideng only behind the frame projections, but it also protected the thumb/index finger web of the hand from rubbing less effectively than a fitted BT safety does.

So fitting a new beavertail needs more then just taking off the old one and putting on a new one. I guess I better get the price quote of the DuraCoat I am about to get.

So I have been on the DuraCoat website, it sounds wayyyy too easy to apply the coating. Is there anyinfo you can give me? Also, when spraying the frame and slide, what all do I need to cover up? And how should I let it dry, because I can't just let it lay there, do I hang it up? If so how would you recommend hanging it?
