Which is the better deal
I'm currently looking at a couple of different SGs and am wondering which is the better deal.
1. Remington 870 Express Magnum - 12 GA. SHOTGUN 3" CHAMBER, 28" VENTED RIBBED BARREL. MOD.REM CHOKE. WEAPON IS 95%. This is going for $200. or 2. Mossberg 835 - 12 ga, pump, 28" VR BBL. New. This is going for $300 or 3. Winchester 1300 - 12 GAUGE .HAS 28 INCH VR BARREL AND WILL TAKE UP TO 3 INCH MAGNUM SHELLS .WITH INSTRUCTION BOOK ALL 3 CHOKE TUBES AND SPANNER. This is going for $250. I'm figuring I'll get a pump and try it out first on some Clays. I'm leaning towards the 870 but I'm looking to see if anyone feels one is a better deal then the others. Thanks for the information. |

Well, I would go for the 870. If you shop around you can probably find one for that price new. I know that last year around this time I picked up a new one just like you described except that it had a 26" barrel; I got it for $200 at Bass Pro Shops. It also had the synthetic stocks; you didn't mention what kind that one has.

I'm a Mossy guy but with those choices and prices I too would go with the 870 magnum !

Remington 870.
I've had mine for 17 years and it still shoots great. I had a Mossberg for 2 years and sold it. I was spoiled by the smoother Remington action.

All of the choices are good shotguns, but the 870 is the better gun, hence the better deal...

Another thought- which one fits? 870 great gun, but drop to low for me, OTH 1300's usually fit.
Course if can shoot to see what fits, but can always get moleskin to 'raise' if need. Clay games , pattern test, will point out fit--we tend to 'adjust' to the gun but when things get flying -bad fit show up in a hurry. my .02 HTH best
