Rossi Model 92, stainless, any good?

I am considering the purchase of a stainless steel Rossi Model 92 chambered in .357/.38.

The application will be for plinking and
maybe an occasional coyote. I like the
stainless for its appearance and ease of care
and also I thought it would make a good
companion for my Ruger New Model Blackhawk
which is also stainless and chambered in
.357 Magnum.

I have seen them at gun shows here in the
Dallas area for around $350 nib. I am open
to other brands but I really like the looks
of the stainless finish. As a rule, I think
blued guns are prettier but the Rossi really
looks sharp to me.

There are a couple of gun shows here this weekend so I would really appreciate some
advice prior to my making the plunge. Thanks.

A couple of fellows in my western entertainment group have Rossis in .45 LC. Although fairly new, we haven't had any trouble. Must admit though, that shooting blanks in a relatively clean environment doesn't qualify as hard use.

Thanks for the reply Info Seeker,

This rifle won't get any hard use if I buy one. It will get shot maybe fifty rounds every couple of months and then cleaned and
put back in the safe.

Some of the Cowboys here seem to favor the Rossi. Check out the Cowboy Action Shooter forum here and look for the thread on lever action rifles. Rossi comes up several times.

just sold my 92 rossi in 38/357 nice shooter really liked that versatility of cartridge choice. don't know if you have any long's drug stores out your way ,however saw one here in colo. for $285. as i have seen posted in different forums you might also take a look at wal-mart, not exactly my idea of a shooting shop but picked up some good deals there myself. a penny saved is a round fired!

jimc: Thanks for the reply, I did some calling around today to various dealers and have been quoted prices as low as $269 for the 16" barrel version in blue and up to $370 for the stainless gun with a 20" barrel (it wasn't in stock anywhere). The stainless version is very difficult to find. I plan to take my time and get the best price, even though I tend to be an impulse buyer.
