cleaning the Egyptian Hakim's gas tube? (or any gas tube)

I know how to get the gas tube dial off, but how exactly do you clean it?

Do you want it really DRY inside? i.e just spray some Gun Scrubber in there and drain it out.

Or do you want an oil coat on it like the rest of the metal?

Any tricks for getting inside there?

Carl
