Be more trouble than it's worth, and quite expensive. Besides, it's a hunting rifle and only the first one or two rounds are important. The rest are merely there as convenience, to keep from wearing out your pocket.

Moved to the Smithy forum.

Contact Winchester or whoever they are that manufactures the Mod 70 and see if you can get your rifle into their custom shop. the web site has the parts list and shows a detachable mag setup, but the parts can only be installed at the factory.

These are the terms for repair

You will notice that the parts for a detachable box magazine are listed for factory installation only with return of the complete firearm.

I hope this helps

Darn

I was hoping I could put a 30rd mag on mine.

Seriously, I would like to have another 3 or 4 rounds in there. When I'm plinking, it runs out of gas too quick
