Depends on what parts you need. If you're looking for the common stuff like firing pin, springs, bushing, etc they are compatable with the aftermarket 1911 stuff.

I have one. They really are nice. Colt and Llama were linked up for awhile. Astra even had their 25 ACP made for Colt and sold as the Junior. The Llama is a ribbed target model. Parts are extremely hit and miss. The pistol is worth about $150.00. Is it worth gunsmith fitted parts and labour?

Your Pistol is a Llama IX-A. I had to dig mine out of the safe to check the box. First auto loader I ever bought myself back in 1986. Mines like new in the box. Havent shot one of those in years. Enjoy yours! Regards 18DAI.

Llama IX-A
Your Pistol is a Llama IX-A. That much is true. However, there are TWO VERSIONS of this IX-A. One (I own) is pure blowback....the barrel is fixed and it has no locking lugs. The other, younger version has a swinging link and the barrel locks and unlocks just like a 1911. Both are listed as IX-A. So, check your gun.
Llamas can be and are confusing. |

Check your date code located left side of trigger vanguard. A letter or a letter/number combination, such as V2 or B7, etc. Using doncameron's thread, you can determine exactly what you have. If the code isn't listed, post it since it might be after 1980. My reference goes to the year, 2000.
It does look like a Model 9A, prior to 1977. Hey 18DAI, let me know when you want to be relieved of yours...Love My LLAMA!

Thanks guys, Lazarus40 it has the swinging link, now that we know what it is I just have to figure out why it's jamming when feeding a round, tried about 5 different mags, it seems like the barrel link has way too much play in it...

Magyar - Email me I'm looking for a 5903 or 5904. Strange246 - Mine jammed frequently the first 100 rounds or so. I switched mag springs and the problem went away , although she was never 100% reliable with anything except ball ammo, and my gunsmith refused to do any work on it , said if he did anything to it he'd already exceed the cost of the pistol. I enjoyed it anyway ,hope you enjoy yours!.Regards 18DAI.

Boy, I sure love these threads on the old Llamas.
Mine is reliable and fun to shoot. Thanks for posting the date codes, I'll have to check mine out tonight. It's a commander size in .38 Super...
