rimfires for turkey

Yesterday I was workin on my grandfathers tree farm and heard a bunch of turkeys, further investigation showed at least 30-40 turkeys having a hoe down in the valley adjoining the tree field. There are neighbors all around the 100 acres so I want to be as quiet as possible. My question: Would I be able to cleanly harvest a turkey with 22SSS ammo out of a rifle? Also an option would be
the new 22 magSSS Aguila is putting out.

Unless you can take a shot where the neck joins the body or a head shot (not easy), I would probably pass.

A good subsonic HP might do a decent job. The SSS, being a solid, would just bore right through and you want to cause some damage.

A .22 Mag would be a better round, or a .22 Hornet. I've been successful with both.

For a .22 rimfire, I concur that the best target is the head or the neck. So, at what distance can you reliably hit a nickel? That's how close you'd have to get.

If your hunt is legal--and that's all we support, here--then the noise of a .22 Mag or a Hornet should not be a problem.
