In the Denver area, the lowest price you'll find on decent (not bad, but not great) FMJs is a little under $14. I just paid over $16 for 50 white-box Winchesters. This seems pretty high. Time for an online brick.

You're getting ripped off.

I pay 11.99 or less for the same thing at Wal-Mart here in SoCal.

Then again, I only pay 5 bucks per 50 round box of the USA in 9mm. From what I understand, those prices are much lower than most of the country.

Around here, the Winchester USA "value packs" are 10 bucks per 100 of 9mm. That's what I pay for 2 boxes of 50, and the normal boxes have the plastic round holders. There's no "value" about the "value pack" here.

Man you got ripped off bad... online you can get it for a good bit less.

I buy a lot of Sellier and Bellot 230g 45 ACP from www.cheaperthandirt.com, and have never had a problem. Unfortunately, they are out of stock on that right now because a lot of orders came in after 9-11... but they have lots of other 45 ACP choioces.

About $3 per box.

www.hi-techammo.com (powder)
www.bonusbullets.com (bullets)

Primers are purchased at a gun show for about $60 to $65 per 5K box.

About three weeks ago, I ordered some ammo from www.natchezss.com. CCI Blazer .45 was $7.20, Sellier & Bellot .45 was 8.20 per box. Shipping and handling was reasonable, too. I ordered a pretty good quantity of several types, and the s & h worked out to be $.75 per box. Also, S & B 9 mm was $5 per box. Quite a of variety of ammo, too.

You may want to check the TFL archives; you will find MANY compliments re Ammoman, and no complaints.

Right now, they have Fiocchi for $199 and Federal American Eagle for $219 -- this is for 1000 rounds (230 grain FMJ) delivered and it includes ALL costs such as shipping, credit card use, etc. That's $9.99 a box. Further, Ammoman frequently has S&B for $199.

Ammoman is a first-class operation: very professional, ethical, and your purchase is ALWAYS shipped (UPS) on the same business day that the order is received.

$1.50 a box of 50.

Steve Smith must be buying bullets instead of casting them.

At the Fort Worth Ammon Carter gun show, I purchase a case (20 boxes of 50 each) of S&B for $175 out the door. That comes out to $8.75 per box.

Recently Natchez Shooter's Supply has been selling CCI Blazer for under $8.00 a box, plus shipping. Shipping for a case generally runs around $12-$14 dollars, so that's maybe $.60 a box more.

My last order was $7.60 a box for .45 acp, and $4.80 a box for 9mm.

They also frequently sell Sellier & Bellot for slightly higher prices, and I much prefer S&B when the prices are close.

The closest factory ammo that approaches the accuracy of my reloads is Federal .45ACP Gold Match. About $20 per fifty round box. My reloads, which are more accurate, cost me about $6 per 100 rounds.

For personal defense ammo, though, I keep my magazines loaded with Federal HydraShocks.
