View Full Version : Shorten Makarov Trigger Pull?

I recently picked up one of the 150$ Bulgarian Makarovs that are making the rounds. For a cheap gun, I like it a lot. However, I'm not a big fan of the hard trigger pull. Does anyone know of a way to lighten this trigger pull? A friend suggested I try trimming the spring, but I'm very loathe to do that. I've cleaned all the cosmoline fully off and oiled the parts well, but short of that, is there nothing I can do?

Go to http://www.makarov.com or the mirror site if that's not working http://www.makarovpistol.com
Look under the "Technical Info." link, believe you'll find something there. The trigger is supposed to get smoother with use as well.

I can tell you that the trigger definitely does get smoother after the first few hundred rounds.

It's a leaf spring, not a coil spring so trimming it does not apply. Halo is right, after a couple of hundred rounds it'll be a lot better.

A good source for Mak ammo is Dan at:

Sadly out of the green-box Novosibirsk, but he's got plenty of Barnaul which people say good things about...never tried it myself though.

Enjoy your Mak.

You say I have to put a few hundred rounds through it before the trigger improves?

*sigh*

Well, if I must, I must.

;)

Thanks for the help!
