Went in WM in Pearland, TX to see if they still have an 1100 for $369.00, they do, and what did I see but Winchester Super Speed 7/8 oz 12 ga shells for $29.80 a case of 10. Less than 3 bucks a box. I bought one right then and I plan on going back Monday the 9th to buy the 1100 and another couple of cases of shells. Do other WM's have such a low price on shells or is it just a local thing?

They usually do this time of year. One word of caution though. The aluminum bases on those shells (if they are the ones I remember) will swell and stick in your chambers sometimes. I have had them stick so bad that the extractor ripped a hole in the rim, rather than extracting the shells.

A tip/warning about WalMart...When I purchased my 1100 on Saturday(after having to walk the salesboy through the process of the paperwork), I was informed he could not sell me shells with the gun. This might have only been the policy at this particular WalMart, but just the same, I figured I would offer an FYI

I bought an 1100 a couple of weeks ago and had to come back another day to get the ammo. They won't sell both at the same time...

I bought a 10/22 a few weeks ago and walked out with the gun AND two bricks of shells. Must be your local Wallyworld.

I agree with PreserveFreedom about these shells. I had same thing happen with couple of rounds in my Rem 870.

I normally use a heavier load in auto loaders. I buy the 7/8 oz for my son who uses them in his 835. The Mossberg handles them fine, never a problem that I know of. I may try them in the 1100 as it should handle lighter loads since it only will take 2 3/4 shells.

I also had sticky extraction with these shells. I was panicking about having to send in my 835 for repair, but when I tried different ammo the problem magically went away...
