A friend has entrusted his 1100 to me for some minor repairs. It has a couple of rust spots on the barrel that are the result of leaving it cased in a basement. I'd like to sand off the spots and touch them up to make it look a little better. Can anyone suggest a method for fixing some minor rust spots on a barrel?
Thanks,

Use 3 ought or 4 ought steel wool not sand paper. I douse everything in kroil before and repeatedly during the rubbing process. Once the rust is gone degrease with TCE or brake parts cleaner. when dry (it won't take long) touch up the bluing with Oxpho blue. Generously oil with CLP

You can also goo to the grocerey store and buy ZUD. I've usaed it on rust and it will not remove bluing, and it is water based. about 1,50 a can

I have a few things that I can try. Thanks, everyone.
I'm not sure what 'Zud' is, but I will look down the aisle with the cleaning supplies in it.
