I just picked up an HK 40 today and got what I beleive to be a good deal on it. I was wanting a 45 but the dealer had a like new 40 for about 300 less. This one has the hard chromed slide and it also had a hogue slip on sleeve on the grip. I got the original box but no manual. Is there somewhere I can get a manuel for it? What about high cap mags? Did the 40 come out after the ban? Also ,What kind of accuracy is it capable of? I know after I just got thru putting the first 50 rds. thru it that I am going to have to PRACTICE! I am used to a 1911 and I shoot my CDP Ultra compact even better than my full sized custom classic(which still isn't saying much!)I like the feel of the HK and with some time and a few thousand rounds , I beleive I will be able to hit that broad side of the barn! I would appreciate any input (positive that is!) that anyone could advise me with--Thanks

HK (http://www.hecklerkoch-usa.com/) will send you a manual at no charge. High caps are available for the USP 40; the prices range from $70 to $125. A good source for information on HKs is HKPro (http://www.hkpro.com/).

I don't know where you can get a Manuel, but I am puertorican and know a lot of Juan's and Jose's.

I've fired the HK USP and the USPC in .40 and although they are fine pistols, they aren't exactly tackdrivers. I would expect about 3-4 inch groups at 25yards.

My only complaint is that they are rather large to be a .40 or 9mm. In that size weapon I would rather shoot a .45.

The one positive thing I do like is the magazine release. Being able to hit the mag release with your trigger finger without having to shift your grip is a bonus. I was able to get good reload times with the weapon.

Sounds like your manual, and mag questions are answered. IFFFF THE TRIGGER is similar to the usp .45 it will come to you quickly. Practise is ALWAYS the best medicine, not to mention just plain fun!

My wife and I both shoot USP .45's and have found them to be very accurate. If you are seeing 3-4" groups, maybe reloading would help!

The triggers are very comfortable yet provide that "tactical" feel to keep you safe even when stressed. I find the DA something of a challenge, but SA is a breeze!

Have fun!

My USP is a 9mm Compact. I've seen hi-caps for the full sized 9mm, .40 and .45. I've also seen them for my gun. Compact .45's don't count because they only hold 8 rounds. I've never seen a Compact non-LEO hi-cap .40 mag, though.

You can find mags at gunshows, gunshops, and at http://www.gunbroker.com, http://www.gunsamerica.com, http://www.auctionarms.com, and http://www.hkpro.com.
