I recently purchased a Western Auto "Revelation" 12g from a sick friend and was wondering what could be done with it.

As it stands, I need to replace the pistol grip with a real stock and have the action worked. I was thinking about replacing the plastic trigger guard with a metal one, but I'm not sure how far to take it.

Ideally, this weapon, which experts here have said is basically a Mossberg 500, would have ghostring sights, sidesaddle, magazine extension, etcetera. However, I'm unsure as to what can be done to it. Are all Mossberg parts compatible? Can a magazine extension be added or is that too much work?

Long story short, is this weapon worth working on or should I simply add the stock and play with it until I can afford a 590A1?

I would probably just add the stock and save for the 590A1. I don't think they make a metal trigger guard for the 500.

Don't waste your money on the 500. Replace the stock and use it the way it is.

If you can't find a stock locally, send me e-mail and I can help you.

Put a real stock on it, have fun, and forget the extras until you can buy that 590 or better yet, a used 870.
