Just going to drop a few photos of my new carry weapon along with one photo of my old carry weapon which has been put into my SHTF bag (we get a lot of bad weather and hurricanes).

I have sold over 90% of my guns and I've stuck with about 5. Three semi autos and two revolvers. Instead of taking classes the way I used to with different firearms, I am taking my self-defense training a lot more serious and sticking to the same pistol. The long slide and the compact that you see. I also have taken Medical classes. Hence the tourniquets and Trauma shears which I do not carry on me. I just carry the tourniquet on me. And sometimes some quick clot. The majority of my medical equipment is in my everyday carry bag. Which is usually with me wherever I go or at the very least in my vehicle.

I was against carrying and modified pistol for the longest time and only recently have I come around to doing some trigger work. So I dropped in a full Apex Trigger kit and my beloved Trijicon HD XR sights. That's about all the gun needs. I've taken a class with a 2.0 and the 1.0 long slide that you see. Both with Factory and Apex triggers.

Both speed and accuracy increases with the cleaner breaks. I'll take any advantage I can.

I have been informed for several years and I'm finally taking it into consideration that as long as I can articulate why I modified the pistol in such a manner, I am good to go considering it was my intention to shoot to stop a threat.

I have over 12 magazines between both pistols. Some in my SHTF bag and some in my EDC bag.

Sweet set-up. How do you carry that thing? No holster pics?

Very similar to my EDC setup. If you want a smaller/easier to carry tourniquet, look into the RATS. Wrapped around your waist, thru your belt loops it like its not there....until you need it

I’m personally still against triggers mods on carry pistols just from the standpoint that it’s one more potential argument in court, though I think your explanation is reasonable as to why you want them (and like you I think the bigger argument is choosing to press that trigger when you did). With the newer M&Ps I found the trigger mods weren’t really worth it for me when I did a side by side some time back with the last of the modifications S&W did to the Gen 1s. That said seems like you have a good setup and overall plan for both combative and medical setup. Best of luck!

One question I did have was what bullet weight HST did you use?

The bullet weight is 124gr either +P or standard pressure.

I'll post a pic of the holsters after this comment from my phone. :)

As for the cream in the coffee, it's Irish cream and coffee. I have it from time to time to treat myself since I don't really eat sugars.

TR, thanks brother. I'm with you. Still on the fence, but also not. Another huge reason as to why I did the trigger on this one is the location.

Bear with me, I know this sounds crazy... The pull of the 2.0 and reset are both nice. The location of which it sticks out to, isn't for me. It's fine, but if you see where I can't use the L strap for my super big hands, it somewhat felt like a Series 70 trigger. The Apex flatty sits out further inside the trigger guard. See about comparing two side by side someday. You'll see.


As for the RATS TQ, I am not a fan whatsoever. The only thing that comes close to doing what a windlass TQ can do is the TK4. Other than that I either use the SOF-T or the CAT Gen 7.

So, for 4 o'clock I use NSR Tactical. That's if I am carrying my secondary Smith and Wesson Model 360PD or Model 60 appendix. Usually since I drive a lot, I carry my primary appendix.

My appendix holster for the M&P 9L with the Surefire X300U is NSR Tactical.

My appendix holster for the 2.0 Compact is T5 Custom Kydex.

I appreciate the holster info. I've had a hard time finding one. I've been rocking a de santis glock 19 holster so far. Might have to check out NSR tactical.

Ah you have it for the trigger placement itself. That I get and even with the upgrades I still prefer Apex's flat or AEK trigger itself just for the shape. In that case assuming you're not changing the weight much then yea I can't see it being a big problem.

Nice holster setup. I recently bought and have been testing a T Rex Arms Sidecar. I really like it but frankly I could use to lose 10 lb. and then I'd really be where I think that kind of setup shines. Even with that I have to admit it practically disappears and the ability to bend, reach, etc. with no printing at all is pretty freeing. I'm still also getting over the whole pistol somewhat pointed at me sensation. I can holster without pointing at myself but frankly with my tactical pouch up front (165 lb. now when ideally I should be 155 lb.) there's no getting around that seated it's canted enough to be pointed at my, well, you know. Between the holster covering the trigger guard and the striker block stopping a strike even were the striker to release I get the argument, it's just still uneasy currently.

If I really think about it a lot it irks me LOL. But it's really all just in our head. For some reason we don't think about it as much when it is at 3 or 4 o'clock, because let's face it, we'd all rather get shot in the butt instead of up front. So we can't help but to think of it.

The same amount of reluctancy to holster your weapon that you have with 3 or 4 o'clock carry, has to be the same reluctancy for appendix carry.

Yea I've done a few courses now where the instructors were running appendix and they emphasized the importance of slowing down on reholster. We should slow down regardless when reholstering, but like you said, people worry less about their butts.
