Ok i got about 400 bucks to blow... I want to get another rifle that i can "f" around with. Anyone got suggestions. I was thinking a .22 bolt action with bull barrel. But i wouldnt mind having a .308 or another .223. Ive got a bushy AR. But I want another rifle just for the hell of it. Maybe an AK or an SKS or a remington 700 or something? I live in Arizona so anything is legal here. :) Thanks

You could get an NEF/H&R single shot rifle. H&R has both the .308 and .223 in bull barrel. The heavy barrel version probably runs a couple dollars more, but well worth it. A hunting partner of mine consistantly takes crows at 100+ yds with his heavy barrel .223.

Another option might be a Marlin 882SSV .22WMR. @ 230 bucks. Another inexpensive tack driver.

Then you can spend the remaining bucks on a Leupold Vari-X II and ammo.

Out of all the rifles I have a couple ones that i have the most fun with are lever action pistol caliber carbine (like a 94 trapper in .357). Just a blast, more fun than my bushy's or my hk94. Plus you just don't end up sinking hundreds of dollars in assesories into later. For fun I also enjoy my PC9 almost as cheep as a 22 with a little more power

I second the suggestion to pick up a CMP Garand, the Danish returns are $400 now, and they're excellent rifles.

CMP = Civilian Marksmanship Program

It's a government program.

Go to http://www.odcmp.com/ and read up.

I don't know of any self-respecting ruminant that would willingly engage in that sort of anonymous activity with a human.

A Marlin 1894P should run about $400. These are great little rifles and everyone should have at least one lever gun. You can shoot for fun, use it on deer at 75 to 100 yards, and it makes a wonderful "politically correct" trunk or home defense gun.
One word of caution, if you don,t reload, learn. You can go through a lot of ammo with one of these in a hurry.

CMP Garand, or a Bulgarian SA-93 AK variant. OR you could get an SKS and still have enough left over for a Mauser and a Makarov....

Im 18 otherwise i would buy a handgun. And i just bought a romanian AK-47. If there are any people in tucson that want to sell a 1911 email me. Im just looking for a private seller who has one in good or new condition. Stupid federal laws. But yea i just bought a new Romak AK about an hour ago and im sending the check out tomorrow. Thanks though.

My first two handguns all came at the generousity of my father. I bank rolled the guns and he did the paper work. They are still in his name. The government doesn't care because I have a CCW permit with those guns listed on them. If they had an issue with the guns not being in my name, they wouldn't have given me the permit.

Yea, I would have my parents get it for me... but they dont seem to be to particular to guns. I got some older friends but if i could just find a private seller I'd be in business. Stupid federal laws... anyways Yea i just need to find someone in Tucson whos looking to part with a handgun. Thanks though for the suggestion. I just got myself an Romak AK-47. But I might see how much cash I have next month and hope for a seller.

Living in Arizona, what is keeping you from buying a handgun from a private sale? The 21 yearold rule is for purchases through and FFL.

RickD,
I thought that being 21 applied to all sales of handguns... However... there are a bunch of people here that are a little queezy about selling to a kid thats 18. Its just a real pain in the ass to find someone who will sell it to me. Ive been looking around and havent found anyone that has anything they want to sell. I am looking for something like a 9mm, 1911, or maybe even a glock. Just gotta find someone who will sell... :)
