Hot damn! Just brought home the ultimate bullet launcher, a refurbed Glock 20 with 2 hi-caps. Couldnt wait to feel the recoil and take it for a walk, so I had to put 100rds of UMC 180's and 10rds of Cor-bon 165 through it before it came home. Excellent shooter and much more controllable than I thought it would be(whats up with the FBI?). I plan on taking it boar hunting this March with some Mullins ammo. Here piggy..piggy, come get your medicine. Cant wait.

What do you guys/gals think about putting an Optima on the G20?

PS

My only problem seems to be finding full bore ammo. I need some 200grs @ 1300fps, unfortunately I dont reload(yet). I am hoping Mullins will help me out.

Great choice! I love my 20 and 29. I do reload, so I bought a hunting barrel from glockmeister and am working up some good loads. I need 500 ft.lbs at 100 yards for legal hunting in Georgia.

Do you know what distributor has refurbed Glock 20s. I would be interested in a refurb w/ two hi-caps myself.

Thanks
Mike

Hey guys,

Unfortunately I am not sure where my dealer got the Glock from. It had been on their shelf for some time before I picked it up. On the Glock tupperware it indicates a rebuild by Glock on 10/99. Needless to say I got a good deal.

I will inquire next time im in the shop and try to get back with you guys.

In the meantime I am trying to find some Win. 175gr Silver tips. I understand they are one of the few, almost full power, factory loads left. They chrono around 1275fps.

I am also talking with Mullins on working up a load for me.

Keep Glocking.

Silvertips won't clock 1290 FPS from a stock Glock 20, more like 1200 according to most of the chrono results posted around here. If you want to get the most out of 10mm for hunting you need a 6" barrel. MCNETT over at "Glock Talk" chrono'd 175gr silvertips from a 6" barrel at 1322 FPS, 155gr Georgia Arms JHP at 1538 FPS, and 180gr Cor-Bon JSPs at 1420 FPS. Expect to gain at LEAST 100 FPS stepping up to the 6" barrel.

OK, I'm headed for the range with my Glock 20, 6" bbl, 24lb. recoil spring, and some 180 grain bullets loaded over 11.4gr Blue Dot with a Winchester Large Pistol Primer.

Max published load is 10.6gr, if this works it should put the bullet in the 1350fps/725ft.lbs. range out of the long barrel. I have been working up to this load, no signs of overpressure so far.

Wish me luck :)

Careful gentleman.

The stock G20 barrel isn't supported @ 6 o'clock.

Hawkman, 180 @ 1300 isn't too bad. I've got some Cor-Bon 180 JSP's that are rated at 1300.
I also have some C-B 200 @ 1200, they have since discountinued them for safety reasons.

There is a gent at http://members.aol.com/WESHOOT2/index.html , he will custom manufacture any load you want.
He will, although, warn against hot 10mm loads in G20's. He apparently used to own one and couldn't get super hot loads to function in his Glock.

What I really like is that he will load 155gr silver tips to unheard of velocities!

All went well. The KKM match barrel chambered everything perfectly and the 24lb recoil spring did its job. There were absolutely NO signs of overpressure on case or primer. I gotta believe the reloading manuals are a bit on the conservative side on this caliber.

Recoil was very manageable. Shot to point of aim at 25 yds. Very consistent.
