How do I remove or disconnect the mag safety on my FEG Hi-Power clone?

If it's built like the "real" Hi-Powers of 20 years back, take off the slide and the disconnect dealie is just sorta staring at you. I don't recall taking off the grips or anything. Regardless, it's easy. I know it's simple; I took the one out of my pistol the first time I ever field-stripped it.

Explore and learn, I guess.

If it is the same as on a BHP see http://www.fnhipower.com Use their "Search" function with words "mag safety". One thread is @ 13 Dec, 2000.

Look to the FAQ'a as listed in the previous posts. But the short of it, if the FEG is a mirrored clone of the FN Browning, the process is pretty simple.

First remove the slide, then lay the pistol frame on a matt. Locate the retaining pin on the trigger. Be sure to go after the lower pin, the other one is the trigger pivot pin. Now with an proper sized drift, knock the pin out of the trigger. Don't get too carried away with the hammer. If it doesn't want to move, flip the gun over and try from the other side. After the pin is removed, look down into the mag well and locat the mag rider. Above this is a linkage. Grab the linkage and gently wiggle it around. When you get it right the disconnect plunger will pop right out. Try to remember how everything went so you can put it back together if need be.

And of course the removal of any safety device is a very, very bad thing. And the above information is being presented for eductional purposes only. (Lawyer stuff)

The magazine disconnect isn't a safety device, it's put there to annoy you. :)
