You might try the 1911 forum, they have a Dan Wesson section . I bought one a number of years ago and got some detailed info I wanted from there.

Any pictures ? What model is it ? They used cast and forged frames on the earlier 1911's but all current stainless steel models have forged frames !

...but all current stainless steel models have forged frames !

Are you sure about that?

^^^^^ pretty sure they are forged. I have two that were built within the last five years and they are forged. I would be surprised if they have changed since then.

Yes , the info is right on their website (CZ USA ) ! I've emailed the company and they have answered all of my questions though not always right away ! I think the change was around 2010 !

I'm not so sure that the frame of my Specialist is forged...it doesn't appear to be cast. Maybe it's milled from billet?

Very nice 1911 , RussB.....I rechecked the info on CZ USA's website and it doesn't mention the Specialist frame being a forged one like all the others including the most economical model ( RZ-45 Heritage ) ! Might be what you say given it has the unique accessory rail feature not shared by the other stainless models ! I really don't care if its cast , forged , or milled from billet....as long as I like the features and it holds up for my needs ! ;)

Send them an Email.....they answer mine but sometimes it takes a few days if their busy !
