Here's my view of the PB match on Sunday. Silly, stupid mistakes. My dot was too bright on Stage 4 - Pushy and what I thought was my dot was actually the reflection artifact from having the dot too bright shining on the lens. That's why I missed that headshot from such a close distance.

and my weak hand is.... weak.

So bloody wet!! Rain came down on us like crazy today and we all got really wet. Shot a pathetic match today making lots of dumb mistakes. From light primer strikes, to being over confident with close shots. I think 30-40% of the time I didn't even bother looking at my dot. I need to work that bad habit out of my system. The only time I practiced good dot discipline was on that one stage I won.

Nothing is better than shooting a match for Charity. Toys for Tots is a great one to be able to support. Had a great time but it was super-cold and I'm totally blaming my lackluster performance on weather. :)

Even my camera refused to work on four of the stages.

We called our December 7 Reactive Steel Challenge and 8 December ICORE Matches. We have 12 Inches of snow at the range here in South Central Missouri.

I am looking forward to warmer weather again. Going down to 2 degrees tonight says the weatherman. :(

First match after a two month long hiatus for the winter, and it shows. Slow, inaccurate, brain farts and beeper-amnesia.

Only redeeming thing is the squad I shot with. Great folks and good fun!

did you guys have to pop out umbrellas? what do you do when it rains like crazy? shower cap for gun? what about mags?

WESHOOT2
April 15, 2014, 08:45 AM
Most wore rain gear; a few tried umbrellas but the wind was too strong.
Guns and gear get soaked.
Hands are wet and cold, and sodden handwarmers don't work.
Targets are bagged, and difficult to paste.

As noted, I shot from concealment.
And of course, it was our special Classifier match, with four Classifier stages and one field course.
Heavy rain means scores suffer.

49 shooters showed up; we have a vibrant club.

I shot L10 Minor, and was 13th overall!!!

Every year one club in our section will run an all classifier match just before the season gets underway so folks can get classified for the big Area & National matches.

I only had one good stage, the rest were really sucky. Looks like I'm stuck at M :)

I thought I did pretty good in this match. I shot with TimR who pushed me a little bit. I just need to get used to this ragged speed so I can be more consistent. I won a number of stages but bombed two which made me lose 50-60 points. Overall, I'm happy.

Great stages! High round count (211rnds) and very tight and varied positions. It was a good match but I got my head working against me again. Need to find a way to shutdown the noise and play. This is one of the Northwest Series matches where we all earn points and get a chance to earn slots to the Nationals (plus some cash). Can't wait for next one in Renton.

What can I say. Bombed two stages and pretty much took me out of the race. I had 5 other great stages with three stage wins but the two setbacks cost me 100+ points.

I don't usually load up my magazines to 29+1 because I don't want to stress my plastic grip and cause another crack but it was definitely useful for me in the 30 round Stage 2.

Nice video, thanks for sharing.
Those open guns are really impressive.
Yours looks like it has about the same muzzle rise as a rimfire.
They are amazing.
Yeah, I always figured on getting the best score of the season when the really good shooters are off testing their skills at a major match. :p
Good for the ego, at least until the next time.

I shot at my pace today getting my hits but not going at breakneck speeds. Came in 2nd behind TimR. Could have gone faster in some of the stages as it felt really slow, but I would probably be dropping lots of points. Will try to gradually speed up at the next match.

Much better. I tanked one stage (the barrels & ipsc targets) but managed to squeeze in 2nd. I shot with the match winner Nick and it was clear I was way-way behind on almost all the stages. I'm proud that I didn't let that get to my head though and I continued to shoot at my own pace.

Now if only I can remember to grip my gun tight. I keep forgetting to do so and my dot runs all over the place.

Final match of the season for Marysville as they shut down for the winter. Had a great time with a bunch of funnies in the squad. Weather was great albeit cold as heck. I think I shoot better in the cold. Came in 2nd behind NickH of course.

Also tried out the new Polaroid Cube camera instead of my usual Contour+ camera. It's a very small and pretty handy camera. It's not big and nerdy like the GoPro, yet still retains usable video quality. Audio sucks though, I prefer the Contour+ for that. All in all, for $100, I can't complain.

The magnet makes it very useful and easy to mount. I'll be switching to this camera for now till I find issues with it.

Fun fun match! IDPA Scoring hurts like crazy though. This was a charity match setup by the DownZero club here in Seattle. It is to promote Prostate Cancer Awareness. Did you know that Prostate cancer affects 1 in 6 men? and it’s deadlier than breast cancer?

if you’re over 40, do yourself, and more importantly, your family, a favor and schedule an appointment to have it checked.

Pretty pleased with today's performance. I did choose to reshoot one classifier and it was definitely worth the money. I got a 100% on that one. So total haul today was two 100%, 98% and 95%. I think if my calculations are correct and if classifier calc is accurate, that would just tip me over 95% barely. 95.02%. we'll see what happens in a few weeks.

Guess what, it rained again in the Pacific Northwest. What a surprise. I should get used to it by now. It wasn't as bad as last week's match but still pretty wet. My gun had a few malfunctions because I didn't detail strip and clean it after the Marysville match. Rust has formed in the lockwork and mainspring housing. That'll teach me not to clean my guns properly especially after getting it wet.

Just got back from this really fun match. Had a great time with good traveling buddies. The guys and gals in the squad were fun to shoot with too.

I shot so-so-ish as I did not actively push myself to go fast or do well. I mentally took this match as good alone/vacation time away from family and work. That sort of manifested in how I shot as well, like I was on vacation :)

A shooting buddy of mine told me a few times while video-ing me, he said “Loke, I’ve never seen you move and shoot this slowly before. what’s wrong?”. Looks like I need to speed things up and actively compete.

So, next match, watch out! My hair will be on fire!

Shot a fun match at my home range today. Despite all my "pains" and "injuries" I did somewhat decently. I have to stop tanking stages and get more consistency. Also took the opportunity to test a new 170mm magazine by mbxextreme.com. It worked flawlessly.

This year's Area 1 Championships was held in Idaho Falls and it featured 13 fun and varying stages. It wasn't super technical but it was a blast to shoot. Everyone had a chance to do well.

One of the stages (#10) got thrown out because of a rule misprint so we got to shoot it for fun. It featured a unique swinger mechanism that has two plates on either side to destabilize it. I believe it's called a Leo's Leaner. It's was fun to decipher and shoot.

I'm pretty happy that I had only three "Mikes" the entire match, I did however shoot somewhat slower than normal because of match pressure. I came in 10th Open, 4th Master behind an amazing array of fast and young shooters.

Came in 2nd place at the Marysville Slot Match. Had some screw ups as usual.

First time using my GoPro Hero4 Session at a match. This camera is easy to use and the video quality is top notch. The only issue is the slightly anemic audio when the gun goes off. Otherwise, the mic picks up speech pretty well.

Nice job.
What's a slot match?
A way for your club to choose candidates for the USPSA Nationals?
Pretty sure it's not about racing slot cars.
When I was active in this, choosing suitable candidates wasn't a problem.
The very few members who could spend the money and time to actually go got the slot.

gunrobot
July 20, 2015, 01:35 PM
haha! yeah not about slot cars :)

you're right, We call it the Northwest Championship Series. Each of the 6 clubs in the section run a Series match. Shooting in one will get you a "point". Collect a minimum of 4 points to qualify you to obtain a slot to go to the nationals. Final decision is also based on your rankings.

There are also cash prizes given away at the end of the entire Championship Series Matches. One of the matches is a special two point match that's run like a Level 2 match which will be happening at the Renton Fish & Game Club on September 27th.

I shoot multigun once a year, last time being Aug 2014. This is my 2nd time ever shooting Multigun in the Tactical Division. I sold my Glock 17 so I have to run my 19 this time which is so small I actually pinched my palm during a reload.

Not sure where I placed, I doubt it was very good as I have 3 big penalty stages. Doesn't really matter though, I shoot this for fun and boy it was. My shotgun reloads need a ton of work/practice if I'm to get into this seriously.

For now, I'll stick to USPSA Open Pistol.

This level two USPSA match is organized once a year as part of our series/slot matches and counts for two. You need a minimum of four to be entered in the challenge to determine your eligibility for National slots.

It's a 181 round match with some really challenging stages which is good for my practice for the nationals. I'm not really happy with my performance, as there were some screw ups which I really need to not replicate again.

This match was organized by the Down Zero crew at the Renton Fish and Game Club.
