What manufacturer makes a 1911 pistol chambered for the 9mm?

It has got into my head that I have to have this gun!

You know how it is.

Also what was your experience with it??? Accuracy, trigger etc...

I have a Springfield PI9134LP (Loaded Target) It's a full size 1911. Chambered in 9mm. It's my range / nightstand gun and I'm happy with it because it is a 9 mm and it doesn't wear me out to shoot.
I have no complaints with its accuracy or performance. Some will say it's not on par with some of the other 1911's out there (probably so, and we have several in .45) but, it's a 9mm, that is what I wanted, and it does what I need it to do and its not given me any problems.

Rock Island (Armscor) makes one.

1. Rock Island Armory
2. STI
3. Kimber
4. S&W
5. Sig
6. Springfield
7. Taurus
many others.

I have a Kimber Target Custom II and STI Trojan -- STI seems to shoot more bullets/loads better than the Kimber but when fed with bullets/loads that match the gun, both shoot the same. The STI is setup for my GF with thin grips and short trigger.
During the panic, I almost bought an STI Spartan.
I think the STI Spartan or the Armscor/Rock Island Tactical would be the best buy now.

Springfield Armory makes a 1911 specifically designed around the 9mm cartridge - the EMP.

I have a commander size, bob tailed Dan Wesson Guardian chambered in 9mm. Accuracy is spot on and trigger is right at 4-4.5#'s and breaks with little to no creep. Came with offset Trijicon night sights. They also have a government size pointman 9 that are a little harder to find.

I have a Rock Island Tactical in 9mm...I like it a lot!

Obviously there are others, and I'm not saying the RIA is the best...but for the price you can't hardly beat it.

Here's a photo with minor mods done to it:

I have a Springfield PI9134LP (Loaded Target) It's a full size 1911.

I have one on order since January. It will probably not be delivered before the end of the year. Must be a lot of people wanting them.

As for 1911s in 9mm, I have the Dan Wesson PM9 and a Smith and Wesson 1911 Pro Series. Both are accurate and soft shooting guns. The accuracy edge goes to the PM9.

MetroArms recently introduced an American Classic II (5in) and a Commander model in 9mm. I got the Commander and it's a keeper!

I took my STI Spartan to the range today. It's an outstanding pistol for the price (around $650). STI also makes the Trojan which has a more polished finish, though I don't know that it shoots any better.

I also own a Dan Wesson 9mm Guardian. It's a fine pistol but is going to be more than double the price of the Spartan.

I also have the Rock Island Armory (ARMSCOR) 'Tactical' 1911 in 9mm... I have been very pleased with the gun, which shoots as well as my Baretta M9...

You actually have a number of choices from some quality brands as many 1911 makers offer 9mm. I don't know what your budget or your intended use is, but I have several STI 1911/2011 pistols in 9mm and they are excellent. Two I use for concealed carry (Guardian and Escort) and three in competition (Edge, Eagle, & Trojan).

I bought a 5" Les Baer PII in 9mm a few years ago. Just bought an STI Ranger II, commander size 9mm. Both are excellent guns.

Thanks for the leads.

STI guns look really nice. Also the Tangfolio ?

Could not find a SW 1911 model in 9mm, did I miss it?

Time to start shopping JD

I had a S&W 1911 Pro for a while. It had excellent fit and finish with a very slick action. Very accurate. I only moved it along because I did not really need a 9mm in that format and something else came up that I had been waiting for. While not the only good choice, I highly recommend that pistol.

+! on the S&W 1911 Pro 9

It's beautiful and those Rocco grips feel perfect in the hand. Pics don't really do it justice.

I wasn't looking for a 1911 9 but just holding it in the LGS was all it took; I was thoroughly seduced.

Is there anyone who tried/tested the Para-Ordnance 18-9? It looks an intresting version of 1911 and has high capacity magazine (good for pistol matches).

RIA also sells a 1911 chambered in 9mm plus it comes with a alternative barrel and recoil spring for the 22tcm cartridge. NIB out the door for $450 from Sarco at www.Sarcoinc.com
I've been very impressed with the performance of the RIA guns I've purchased. They're made from 4140 Arsenal grade steel and cut from billet on CNC machines. They are low priced but certainly not "cheap" guns. Then if you decide yours is a keeper and want to modify, customize etc you won't feel like your putting lipstick on a pig.

Love my RIA. It's been 100% reliable with Wilson mags (not so much with factory....)

The answer is almost every mfg of 1911's makes them in 9mm.....

my personal favorite is Wilson Combat....I have a 5" Protector model in 9mm...and it has an accuracy guarantee of 1" at 25 yds ...( not in my hands ) but it'll perform that well.

I like a 1911 in 9mm...doesn't beat up my arthritis in my hands / inexpensive to shoot over a .45 acp ...great practice gun / then I carry the same gun in a .45 acp.....

Here's mine....Wilson, Protector model, 5" in 9mm...( I'm a little over 50,000 rds thru it now ...bought it new in 2006.

http://thefiringline.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=90272&d=1372200117

It ran 100% right out of the box...and the only thing I've done to it, in 50,000 rds is replace the extractor ( and springs )....

( I have a couple of other 1911's in 9mm a 4" Kimber Tactical Pro II model, and a Les Baer Monolith 5" model ....both decent guns / but not nearly as good a gun as the Wilson Combat ! ).
