Best Current Semi- Auto .22 Rifle Wiht Picatinney Rail?

I have a Remington Speedmaster in .22 that is my favorite rifle and has been for over 30 years for plinking and light hunting. Unfortunately it has a tiny set of grooves on top for mounting a scope but I'd like to try one of my night scopes that only mounts with a picatinney rail and there is no adaptor I can find for the Remington set up. What modern .22 semi auto rifle on the market is of good quality and that will allow a picatinney rail to be installed on the top? Thanks...

There's all kinds of rimfire groove to picatinny adapters out there.

If you're just looking for an excuse for a new gun, a picatinny rail screws right to the top of a factory 10/22 . If you want to look really cool, you can get something like a Kidd 10/22 receiver with the rail as an integral part:

They also make an adapters as said above. I have one and it works well.

I have a 10/22 with the Archangel stock, picatinny rail with an Eotech, and a bull barrel with an intregal suppresson from Yankee Hill. That is only the start of what you can do with one. No more versaile firearm out there as far as I know....unless it's an AR.

Another vote for the 10/22. With the aftermarket, you can turn it into just about anything.

In addition to the 10-22 consider the S&W 15-22. It costs a bit more, but after you spend money modifying the 10-22 it isn't that much more.

For considerably less than a Volquartsen my vote goes to the Remington 597, with a D.I.P rail on it since you require a picatinny rail. Accuracy, handling, reliability, what else is there? It doesnt have the aftermarket that the 10/22 has but theres enough out there to turn it into what ever you want. I have mine with a 200m zero on it right now, will hit an honest 4/5 clay pigeons at that range, which is pretty damn good for a .22lr.

I second the Remington 597. Not only is it offered in .22lr but in .22wmr as well. They are great firearms and unlike the 10/22, not everybody owns one. I enjoy mine so much I own 1 of each caliber.

I'm approaching 60,000 rounds in my first 10/22. I turned the stock barrel into a smooth bore and she'd still shoot 4 inch groups at 100 yrds.

Yes, roughly based on the 10/22, but that's where the similarities end.
The complete Volquartsen built rifles share no parts with the 10/22 other than magazines and stocks.
Volquartsen Custom built rifle and Ruger 10/22 rifle parts are not interchangable.
Volquartsen does sell improved parts for the 10/22 but their complete rifles do not use these 10/22 parts. Even their bolts are different.

I've got a Speedmaster and a Fieldmaster Pump - both are great and accurate guns.

Just get the rail adapter as mentioned above and keep shooting your 552.

If you just want a new gun, get one of the new Tacticool 22s like the M&P 15-22 ot get a 10-22 and dress it up the way you like. What the heck, you only live once and you can never really have too many .22s
