Just sent a response for a replica arms? '61 colt navy. Like new condition (save for the turn ring). Looks very pretty, deep blue and interesting wood on the grips. Never heard of this company before? Pietta, Uberti or something else? Was thinking of offering $125 or $150. would this be a good one or not? I've never had a '60 or '61 colt. I am actively looking for one, as I don't have a .36 either (all mine are .44) thought a '61 navy would be a nice addition. It's cut both sides and heel for a stock also.

Its either ASM, Uberti or Pietta. Replica Arms was bought out by Navy Arms in the early 70's

the beautiful lines of the 1860 and the desirability of .36 cal.

If it is marked, "Replica Arms, Ridgefield NY, it is after the Navy Arms buy out.

I think you are right on the value.

It's not a Pietta, they all have 8 inch barrels, this is a 7 1/2. More than likely a Uberti.

Once Val Forgett took over, all of the stuff coming in the name of Replica Arms, was Uberti. That is likely not because Forgett insisted upon it rather that the contracts were purchased along with the other assets. I am no expert on that buy-out by any stretch.

This looks like a job for "Superman".

BPREVOLVER....Where are you?

At that time the Uberti connection made a big difference. Now it is less pronounced.

My Replica Arms '61 Navy is a 36 cal w/7.5" barrel Uberti. It is a high quality piece except it shot off to one side so I put a rear sight on the rear of the barrel (similar to a '72 Open Top) and filled in the hammer notch. It has had over 2000 rounds through it and is as tight as when new. It handles RB & 130gr LEE conicals with aplomb. At one time or another it has been my plinker, trapping gun, snake gun (1 chamber w/birdshot), under the pillow gun, and deer finisher.

REPLICA ARMS
MARIETTA, OHIO

CARRIED ONE OF HIS SHORT 36's BACK IN THE MID SIXTIES as it was legal to do so in that state and specifically in Cleveland which was a hellhole at that time.
