Springfield Micro Compact experiences good or bad? Trade pending need help quick

I have an offer to trade my G23 with Insight light, 4 magazines, Trijicon night sights and 400 rounds of ammunition for a Springfield Micro Compact 1911. I carry a G26 now but if these are outstanding gun I may make the trade. I recently passed on a trade on a HK USP for various reasons but I dont think they apply here. Any and all experience and opinions gladly appreciated.

Is it the basic park/gi spec/ or the SS fancy loaded model?

Those are no longer made I believe, the gi spec ones. It was their budget line or something. $500-$550 in the day IIRC. Just like the full-size 1911 gi spec. I would keep the Glock IMO, much better.

Its 2 tone with the black frame and stainless slide, has 3 magazines, the springfield holster and mag pouch and it just says Micro Compact Cal .45 on the left side of the slide. He was asking $975.00 for it.

Your light new is what $200+ ish? used Glocks are about $450ish, + $200 light. $650 and some magazines $700ish.

No idea used prices of the Springfields.

All together with the gun, trijicon sights, grip plug, magazines, Insight light, Talon grips, and ammo I am into the G23 for around $950.00 - $1000.00

I did have another trade offer for a HK USP 9mm with 8 15 round magazines and night sights also.

I have and carry an old GI micro compact 1911 by Springfield. They are a good pistol and fairly easy to CCW. However, they also are unforgiving to any failure on the shooters part. Limp wrist it, ride the recoil, or any other thing that people do trying to reduce the kick causes my micro to not complete the reload cycle usually leaving an empty chamber. With a firm grip and locked wrist it is as reliable as a full size.

Will the guy wanting to trade you his Springfield for your Glock let you shoot it first? From what I've read (no experience with them), shorter than "Commander-sized" 1911 pistols can be finicky and, in some cases, almost impossible to get to shoot reliably. It'd be nice to know if the Springfield pistol you're looking to get via trade isn't one of these before the "deal" is consumated.

I have the Springer Ultra Compact with a 3.5" barrel. Despite three thousand rounds and all sorts of tuning I just could not get it to run reliably. It has a 2% failure to feed rate. New extractor, new mags and springs, etc brought the failure rate down from 30% but it is till not reliable enough to trust as a carry gun. I've read of some folks having luck with the sub-4" 1911's but they don't seem to be as reliable across the board as other types of short barreled pistols. I think the option of firing a couple of hundred rounds before buying is a great idea before trading a reliable Glock for an untried pistol. Good luck.
