eotech glass has blemishes in coating?

Hi i am wondering if this is normal, i just bought an eotech from a private party. I didnt notice at the time but when i got home i noticed a couple of what look like blemishes in the coating of the rear lens. I google searched it and found a couple listings for eotechs with what they called "typical blemishes" on the glass. They dont look like scratches or anything, it looks like its in the film. Any advice would be great.

Its kind of hard to photograph but its the stuff that looks like lint or something on lens.

The lens is coated and the blemish is most likely in the coating. Can't comment on whether this is typical or common

I've used my buddy's EOTech and I have one on my shotgun. Neither had any blemishes in the optic coating that I noticed.

Call EOTech. They are always helpful.

Had to ask this question....are you sure that it is an Eotech original and not a copy?

I have a couple of Eotechs and I have seen some spotting on the glass.

It is USUALLY some spatter from what ever you used to lube a gun.

It is sometimes surprisingly difficult to get it off the glass.

What I have found that works pretty good is the wet lens wipes you can find for eyeglasses. You can find them at any drug store.

Sometimes though, they just move the spot around.

I have used Windex, sprayed on a lint free cloth and light wiping.

I am betting you have some contamination on the outside of the glass and you may have to work a little to get it clean.

For anyone with difficult to clean coated optics I suggest trying this stuff. It works wonders, beats the "soapy water from the optician/camera store" stuff hands down & is safe for optical coatings of all types.:cool:

Yes i'm sure its an eotech original, i looked up the fake guide on their website . But thanks fo the suggestion. As for it being oil or something, i tried an eyeglass cloth and it didnt work but will try again. I am hesitant to use windex because eotech says to use water only. And i will call eotech that is a good idea. I'll call them and try water and another glass cloth and post results . Thanks for all your input.
