My current gun: Colt 6721, I have a MagPul Miad grip, MagPul foregrip, YHM muzzle break, Magpul stock.

My plan: put on a low profile gas block and a 15" free floating fore end (this one specifically http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=53954/avs%7CMake_3=AR-15zz1zzM4/Product/AR-15-M16-GEN-II-SS-SERIES-HANDGUARD) and MagPul mbus sights. UBR stock. I'm budgeting about $500 for all this which will be cutting it close. Thinking about getting a BCMfg charging handle too.

Now, my question: Is this a decent build idea? Better ideas are welcome.

The UBR well eat half your budget, save it for last. I'd do a 12" tube, the low pro gas block and a charging handle then go shoot the heck out of it.

Here's a 12" tube with UBR on a 16" rifle.

I know what it is but I'm not going to steel madcrates thunder . I'll let him tell you :D . His is a rifle length or maybe ex-rifle , mine is mid length with a railed gas block in front

Ive got a UBR on a lower I built for a 6.8. It's a very nice stock, and I like the cheek weld but its heavy. Id take the advice above and run with it. Id spend the money I saved on a better set of sights. I really like the fixed Troy HK style front and the DD A1.5 fixed rear. That combo is fast accurate and very solid.

Metal God: How do you like those mag well grips?

My main thing with the UBR is to offset the balance of my HBAR. Love love love my rifle and I wouldn't trade that HBAR for the world, but it is indeed got some weight to it and I've considered getting some weights for my stock, but sounds like a UBR would help a lot with that.

One of my big things is I want to find a 3X scope with large diameter that possibly is a red dot or something. This HBAR can get out there and reach some targets with good accuracy. My iron sights simply are nowhere near as accurate as the gun is. HOWEVER... I DO NOT want to ever sacrifice my iron sights. If my iron sights could do it all I'd keep them and never use an optic.

I really like the idea of mounting a red dot type scope between my iron sights only as a supplement instead of a replacement.

I like it alot . There is one problem with this particular one . When breaking down the gun . Lets say you just want to open up the gun so you can get to the FCG or check out a mag problem . The gun does not pivot on the front take down pin all the way forward . The mag well grip hits the hand gaurd and only opens about 45 degrees

I have since trimed and sanded off the area off the mag well grip that hits the hand gaurd and it opens farther now . ( much better now I can easily get to all the inerds with out taking the upper completely off the lower )

A Todd Jarrett from YHM, just like Metal gods mid length version.

My main thing with the UBR is to offset the balance of my HBAR.

The UBR well balance the Hbar nicely. It's 1lb 10oz without RE, the Magpul you have is about 14oz. I could look for a used one. I picked up a FDE UBR for $150, just like new. Now I need to build something to use it on.
