My local range has a .22 benchrest group, and a friend and I are thinking of joining. We got us a nice Anschutz, but we're having issues picking a scope for it. It came with a 5-15 Zeiss hunting scope, and we want to replace it with a dedicated large magnification scope. What we haven't figured out yet what's the best reticle for this application.

Typically, a 1/8 minute crosshair or a 1/8 minute dot. Go to your range and ask others if you can look through some scopes before you spend the money... preferably at the target you will be using in competition.

IMHO... the crosshair allows you to "divide" a square BR aiming point easier.

Cheers,

The old tried and true Weaver T series. I prefer the 24x over the 36 for 50 yards.

I prefer the thin crosshair with dot, I have a Mueller 8-32x40 mounted on my target rifle, works great superior to many more expensive scopes imo.

As Creeper mention since your thinking of joining might be best to see what yardage/target range is using and ask some of the shooters what type scope their using.

This may be one of the target they use
