*shaking head in disgust*

Another funny thing about gun control advocates, firearms aren't the only things they don't understand. 3D printers are extremely cool, but as for now (and for a while, I'm assuming) a 3D printer is only able to create objects using polymer-based materials with a binder. They are typically for prototyping, or if a component does not require a lot of strength, but needs to be intricate. I could print a nuclear bomb, but that doesn't mean it will work . That AR15 receiver he printed (in my mind) would be very dangerous to fire.

Another thing people don't understand is- if you can operate a 3D printer, you most likely have a CNC mill that you could *actually* make said components with. Apparently owning a 3D printer makes you evil as well.

...and the printers they said are $500, are actually kits. Let's just say the average joe cannot assemble a WORKING 3D printer, be completely proficient with SolidWorks, and have intricate knowledge of firearms design. It's a pandemic, I tell you! /sarcasm

It's been discussed recently. The search engine is your friend (http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=496740).

"It's had over 200 rounds of .22 through it so far and runs great! To the best of my knowledge, this is the world's first 3D printed firearm to actually be tested. Last weekend I finally re-assembled a .223 upper and gave it a go: "

Thanks, the guy who wrote the blog wasn't very informative about the actual mechanics of the production. Your link sums it up nicely for me.
