Local shop just got in a few Ruger SR1911's. I am looking for a first 1911 and I understand this one would be a good one. The question is do I pay the full $799 at the shop or get on a waiting list for $650 online...$150 is nothing to sneeze at. There are FFL fees as well but still over $100 savings. But being on backorder could take months.

The wife will opt for ordering online and waiting to save the money *grumble*

I'm all about helping the local guys but if there's a disparity like that I'd go for the online purchase. But, I always give the local guys a chance to match the price(with transfer fees).

Good point. I will run by with a printout and see what he will do. I would much rather buy from a shop about a 1/4 mile from my house than online.

As long as you are not on the waiting list at action arms which will end up charging you the current amount when they come in. Waiting for 7 months and when they come in get a notice that the price is now xxx and your back order has been cancelled. BTW local here is selling it for $699.

$799:eek:

Bought mine at my LGS for $650 just under $695 with tax.

I'd keep looking or wait.

Do not feed the price gaugers... This is a $600 1911 do not pay more...

Pretty much sums up my feeling. I'd wait and use the $150 on ammo.
