So I picked up my Marlin model 60SB a while back!

I have been getting it dialed in and trying to find some ammo it liked to chunk out there around 100 yards or so!

I picked up some CCI Velocitors the other day.
A 40 grain 22lr the claims a super fast 1435 fps at the muzzle and, at 100 yards a respectful 1084 fps with just over 100 ft lbs of energy!

Not to bad for a plinker!!:D

It is the fastest 40 gr 22lr on the market
and packs the most energy at 100 yrds,
according to CCI!

This is five shots at just over 100 yrds.

I had to add my touch on one round but other then the flyer I think it is pretty good for a 22LR at 100 yrds!!

I am pleased any way!!

Beats my target and I think I do okay considering I shoot an old Marlin 60 with iron sights.

Those flyers absolutely kill groups. But yes, I would be pretty satisfied with the target. But I would be trying to figure out if the flyer was me or the ammunition. I would shoot another and another target.... and probably another after that!

Very nice set up. What scope is that? IF I buy a Marlin M60, that is precisely the model I would buy. I have a Weatherby Mark XXII (semi) and TC Lynx (like the all weather R55) that do very well at 100 yds and it's hard for me to just buy the M60 when I know I won't shoot it that much. My plinker is a Ruger 10/22. It doesn't do as well with targets, but it's a fun little rifle. The Ruger points really well for me if I am small game hunting (rabbits), but I don't do that so much anymore.

The scope is a Simmons 22 Mag 3-9x32. It was the only local silver rimfire scope.
It dose its job though!

Shoot the tube! You've got 14 rounds, lets see what that group looks like :).

I've got a BSA Sweet 22 scope on mine (60CS) and that's about the size of my groups with a full tubes worth (about 2"). Of course there's more holes, but that's what the spread is. I'm getting that with Federal and Winchester bulk packs. Gotta love the Marlin Model 60! Sweet looking all stainless setup there.

Good group. Try some slow bullets too.

Very cool, just recently got my Marlin 60 (not in that sexy stainless finish though) and need to take it to the range and check out the groups. I'm a new shooter so I doubt it'll be as nice as those :p

Nice! When I chronographed Velociters and Stingers out of my gun and got higher velocities with Stingers. (10/22--1550 fps Stingers!)

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Yes the Stingers are a bit faster. They claim 1620 fps I believe. But they are a 32gr bullet as well. The Stingers gave a decent group, but not as tight as the Velocitors. Plus the Velocitors packs more energy at the longer distances.

I have shot a few slower rounds as well and so far nothing has been close. Do you have any you would like to recommend Buzzcock?

I've had good luck with Federal Gold Medal.

Under 50 yards it doesn't seem to make a lot of difference but 40 gr solids almost any brand are generally more consistent. At 100 yards my guns like Winchester Super x 40 gr round nose solids the best but a little pricey so I only shoot them in competition.

ive been toying with the idea of doing a trigger job on my 60, but there are so many parts in the trigger group im scared to get into it. In my opinion the trigger is the only thing holding it back from being a great 22.

Those high speed bullets beat the hell out of the nylon buffer that sits behind the bolt. If you do not need the high speed cartridges try some standard velocity like CCI. BTW nice group.:)Cliff

I've felt the same about my Model 60. I've been kicking around getting a trigger from these guys, but my spare change keeps getting spent on other stuff:
