Does anyone by chance know the exact tap size for the trigger guard screws that actually hold the action to the magazine, on this mauser,( from turkey).

Maybe someone modified yours?? The inletting guide screws for Mausers that Brownells sells are 1/4-22 http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=6644/Product/INLETTING-GUIDE-SCREWS

The Forster models at Midway are also 1/4-22 ...

Good luck,

I ordered a pair of those Forster action screws, and got them today but seems like the rear set of threads of the action are weird, and I wanted to chase'em out to smooth it up. If you say 1/4 22's I'll go to my hardware store tommorrow and browse the tap&dye section.;)
Thanks Saands

You will have to buy that tap from someone like Brownells. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=17079/Product/HIGH-SPEED-STEEL-TAPS

Know anyone with a metric screw pitch gage and a 0-1" outside mic. Like a machinist/toolmaker friend?

Mauser threads are not metric. They are standard Whitworth threads. The guard screws are 1/4-22. Barrel is 12 tpi.

Thanks fellas, I believe you when you say 1/4 22's and yes I have machinist friends but they don't live close, so I will have to go to my hardware store and check 'em out.;)

You well not find a 1/4-22 at the local hardware store. Brownells or Midway and expect to pay $20+.

A google search may find one cheaper, good luck.

This is becoming the reality of special tools and in a city as big as this one....:(

Not just 1/4 - 22, but Whitworth. The thread angle is 55* but 60* will usually work, if you can even find one.

It makes me feel like licking sandpaper!:(

Many of the Mausers I rebuilt I will ask the Person/Owner if the thread can be changed. If they say no then I charge a little more for the English Whitworth size. Otherwise I TIG weld the holes shut and re-tap them.

Manhatten Supply Company (MSC) can probably be the cheapest way out for a tap.
