I found a really cheap thickness gauge and digital caliper from Harbor Frieght Tools:

I figure the digital thickness gauge would be a quick way to measure bullet expansion and other small measurements. It only measures up to about 1.1"
But they also sell a 6" digital caliper for 9 bucks:

I'm ordering the caliper and I'll report on it.
