So, about a year ago I got inspired by MadOgre and asked for some advise about cutting down a 336, and promised to post pictures when I did. I just finished it tonight, so better late than never I guess.

Since I bought it I've installed a Wild West trigger/ejection spring and had the action smoothed out by my gunsmith. I also added a DRC lever, and Ram-Line stocks, as well as a XS lever rail, and a Vortex sparc. Most recently I cut the barrel to 16.25", and Duracoated the whole thing. Not everyone's ideal lever gun, but I'm hoping it'll be a pretty effective brush gun. Hopefully I'll have a chance to sight it in tomorrow, but tonight I'm just basking in the excitement of having it all put back together.

I like it. Looks very handy. Let us know how she shoots.
Just curious but how much $ you got in it?

not including the gun it's self or the optics, maybe $350? I wound up buying a recrowning tool form Brownells and cutting it down myself to save the cost of having a smith do it for me. I had a couple buddies who needed a recrown, so we were all able to split the cost of the tool (~$100), and it turned out to be very easy to use.
I'll be sighting it in this afternoon - unless Murphy's law gets in the way.

All I have at the house is 50yds, and no bench - that close sitting against a tree works almost as well. But mathematically groups at 100yds should be double - or in nerd-speak, Diameter of group = 2([distance to target]*tan(accuracy))

So I'm happy.

edit: This was with Horady Leverevolution ftx

I´m just curious as to know if my eyes are decieving me or not.... But is that rifle loaded? In the picture, it seems I can just spot a caseing inside the loading gate?
And, by the way, I like the length of it! And that lever looks really nice to use!

lol, yeah, I'd loaded the tube to see what the new mag capacity was (5), and took the picture before I brought it outside to cycle it. Good eye.

Heh, I knew it! :) No problems feeding ammo into the longer tube?

The tube is actually shorter. I took 4" off the barrel and 3 off the tube.the tube had originally been about 1" shorter, but I thought leaving them the same length would give it more of a snub nose look.

Of course it is. Temporary brain malfunction... Sorry!
