It surprizes me that Savage can make such an excellent sharp shooing rifle for so little cost. This think shoots a hair over 1/2" groops at 100 yards. It's not the prettiest stock, grey plastic, but for the money, $270, I don't mind the looks. A gorgeous walnut stock would be better, but then I would have to pamper it more.

It's just a good warm fuzzy feeling to have a good shooting rifle, no matter the cost. You could spend a fortune to get that great shooter, but to spend a 'reasonable' amount of money to get a real shooter makes a fellow feel smarter (and maybe taller and better looking, though most of us Texas guys are already tall and good looking).:D

Thanks for the report

I've been looking at .223 as a fun range riffle and it sounds like this is one to check out.

You know, for not too much doe a fella could sure build up his armory with about four of these rifles,,,,, the scopes are what kills ya.
I agree that the stock is bland sorta, but it could be camouflodged to look bad--s!!:)

The Stevens 200 is the old reliable Savage 110. A rifle that has proven itself in the field time and time again.
You should get many years, maby even a lifetime of dependable service out of this rifle.

Hooligan, everyone knows thats what the Stevens 200 is, its just a Savage 110 without an accutriger, in a grey plastic stock.
The action has been around for a very long time, and is proven to be good.

I would rather buy the Stevens 200 than the other rifles in that price range. With the 200 there are alot of after market parts and acesseries available. Its a really good buy.
