Hi all, I just picked up a used USP 9 for what I think was a decent deal. No Case or 2nd mag, but it looked pretty good for $449 so I grabbed it. The dewler had no idea of round count, but I don't think its very many. I tried taking some pics but I suck at photography. Anyone wiling to tak a guess at how used abused this gun is? Thanks in advance.

Tried to show some small discolored areas in the next two but they don't show up too well, One one the front of the slide near the front sight and one on the tip top of the rear slide by the very last grip serration.

Based on the barrel hood wear and compared to mine with 1500 known rounds, I'd say yours has 500 or fewer rounds through it.

I'm not familiar with wear symptoms on Hk pistols, but I wanted to say that despite your disclaimer, your photographs are actually better than most I see in forums (good lighting, good focus in three of the four pictures, and you're getting in close enough to show good detail.)

Thanks! No need To change out all the springs I hope.

Oh my gosh: You got what should have been at least a $600.00 firearm for $449.00. I doubt that pistol has had 200 rounds through it. You do realize that pistol is one of the few in the world where the owner's manual okays the use ,albeit not a steady diet, of 9mm +P+.

You have done well---very well. That is a peach of a weapon. It has no holster wear and none of the finish is gone from the top of the breech. I wonder if it has been shot even 200 times?

It looks to me like it was in a safe or somewhere in storage for a long time. Someone could have stored it and never wiped it down and thus the discoloration.

The two areas that will show cycle wear are the barrel hood and the spring. The hammer may indicate some use but it's hard to quantify. Looking at the wear in the photos I'd say your gun has less than 2000 rounds. That would make your buy a genuine steal for this brand, model and year (2003). Just getting warmed up. My several USPs show very similar wear marks.

Where are these guns coming from? About a year ago I too found a 2008 USP9 in excellent condition, complete with all mags, literature and original case, with some holster wear for only $400. I couldn't believe my eyes. "What's wrong with it?" I asked. Might be my best buy ever. :D

Go enjoy your find. Soft shooting, accurate, reliable and wears like iron (duh!), a world class gun by any measure.

Thanks! No need To change out all the springs I hope.

The recoil spring should be good for another 20,000 rounds or so.

Very nice 2003 model. Shows little wear at all.

Worn out send it to me and I'll do a complete forensic inspection on it. I promise I'll return it when I'm done. LOL It looks great, do you see any signs of the head stamp that most weapons show? If not the round count would be very low.

Agreed. I see next to no wear on that thing... you got a smoking deal. I'd guess it was significantly less than 500 rounds. Maybe more like 200.

It is difficult to tell wear on HKs as the steel is abnormally hard and the finish tough. I just took a close look at my USP, USPc and my P2000sk. My USP looks similar to the OP's. Here's a shot of my USPc barrel hood. This gun as well as the P2000sk have a number of rounds through them, yet show almost no wear. These are tough, well made guns of the highest quality.

Here is a photo showing the finish wear on the chamber of my HK USP 45 after only 200 rounds. I think it is a little bit excessive, but I'm not concerned about it. This is my first HK though, So I dont know what to compare it to.

That's not excessive at all. I wouldn't be surprised if the OP's USP 9 has had less than two boxes through it.

My USP 45 has 850 rounds through it.

From your pictures that USP hasn't been fired much at all.. Ive seen duty USP .40's with the chamber almost completely un-finished

And its date coded 2003

nice purchase! Enjoy!
