I believe they are the same magazines.

I believe they are the same magazines.

They aren't the same magazines. The .455 mags are larger than the standard .45 ACP mag. A .455 mag will not work in a standard .45 ACP frame, but a .45 mag will fit and sometimes work in a .455 frame although it will tend to be a bit loose and may or may not cause feeding problems.

I've seen a few .455 mags for sale on Gunbroker lately, but they have getting bid up into the $300.00+ range. They're a hard mag to find.

FYI, most .455 mags will be so marked on the bottom as to calibre.

.455 Webley??

This is news to me, and sorry, I think it's cool that 1911s are in .455

Then again, 4:55 used to be my favorite time of day. I drove a 455 cid muscle car for decades as a daily driver

.455 Webley??

Actually, it is .455 Self Loading. It is a semi-rimmed cartridge very similar in size to the .45 ACP. The case is slightly longer, but the fmj issue bullet is slightly shorter as it is 200 gr. The reason a larger magazine is required is to accomodate the semi rim.

Actually, I know by first hand witnessing that .45 ACP will work single shot in a Webley & Scott Model 1912/1913 Naval auto, but will not feed from the magazine.

Sometimes the cartridge is known as .455 Eley.
