I really like the new Winchester Model 70s, with the "Pre-64" type actions. I think I'll get a .308, but I wish the rifle came with iron sights. How hard would it be to install a set of sights that wouldn't prohibit mounting a scope as well?

Capnrik, not hard at all. You could have your choice of about any sights on the market. It would probably cost you somewhere between $30 and $50 plus the sights. George

Thanks for the reply, George. I like the folding rear sight that Winchester used in the Fifties. I'll see if Brownell's can sell me a set, or would it be more polite to buy them from the 'smith?

Capnrick, since you are going to pay the same price why not let him make the profit? George

George--

Are you sure you can mount a sight on a featherwieght barrel? The barrel wall is very thin maybe 1/8".

Can it be tapped safely??

DeBee, if that was indeed the case there are several sweat-on ramps on the market. George
