Look, I know they are different calliber, but I wanted a few opinions as to which firearm is a more proven platform between the two. I guess the truth of the matter is I already have a p-30 and I am thinking of selling it to buy a 45c.....can't make up my mind. How about a few opinions..??../?

oh God, they're both so sweet. If youre just looking for my personal opinion I'd choose the HK45 for my own personal reasons. I really like that one out of the entire market, not just the HK stable. And i think the P30 is overshadowed in the HK stable.

Advice to you? If you cant afford to have both, go ahead and switch. its a hobby and change is fun.

however, if you use it for personal protection, Id recommend you keep what youre familiar with.

You should keep what you have because its a good piece, and save up to add to it, not replace it.

If you're going to get an HK in .45 get the Mark 23.

It's a tack driver.

Remarkable gun...

Both are wonderful handguns, and I have both. I don't plan on getting rid of either. I would prefer to carry a .45, but the P30 is certainly cheaper to shoot, and is itself a very sound handgun.

My .45c has been flawless, I wouldn't own a .40 it's a caliber I don't need.

Both are proven pistols. Check out these tests. ( http://www.hkpro.com/forum/hk-handgun-talk/122502-hk45-endurance-test-pistol-training-com.html ) ( http://www.hkpro.com/forum/hk-handgun-talk/104274-50-000-rounds-six-months-hk-p30.html ) . I own both the P30 and the HK.45C. If I had to decide between the 9mm ( I just don't enjoy shooting a .40) in P30 or the .45c for range and pleasure use, I guess I would go with the P30 because I can afford to shoot it a lot more. Having said that, if I had to keep only one pistol, I would keep the .45c. It is amazingly accurate and soft-shooting for a .45 imo.

I find this thread very timely. I'm currently debating one of the same two model pistols as an off duty compliment to my HK USP 45 full size.

I'm leaning twards the HK45C as I did not care for the trigger on the P30 9mm I got to shoot. The P30 was very nice in all other respects.

I'm waiting for a fellow officer to pick up his HK45 compact so I can try it. I'll post back the results after I do. Regards 18DAI.

I've had the full size HK45 for a couple of years now. It is one of my favorite guns. I was considering changing my CCW gun from a revolver to an auto and I thought about the HK45C. But it is still a fair sized gun, it's a middleweight, and it doesn't give me that many more rounds than my revolver.

I considered going all the way down to the HK P2000SK but decided the P2000 was small enough. And since Bud's had a good price (and stock) of the P2000 LEM in .357 SIG, I decided to go that way. 12 shot mag, cartridge I prefer, decent length barrel to get it up to speed, nice LEM operation. I'm still in the break-in period and not carrying yet but so far I'm pleased. Very nice size and weight. Easy to hit with. May end up changing the mag release levers for the larger ones that go with the 45C but that's about it. Oh, maybe switch to the flat bottomed mags to make it a bit more compact.

For a range and fun gun.... I still want a P30L!

The 45 ACP is the more proven round, without a doubt, having been around since 1911 vs. the 40 S&W what, early 2000s?

But the 40 S&W is probably just as good. Don't lose your ass by selling one to buy the other.

Keep your P30 and try not to get curious. You have higher capacity, higher velocity, and higher energy instead of the extra five hundredths of an inch in bullet diameter.
