my son just bought a new s&w 380, 6+1 rounds and built in laser. it is just barely larger than my 380 amt but lighter in weight. anyone shoot one of these? does it shoot any ammo or is it picky? it seems like a nice ccw but i haven't seen any reviews. the built in laser is a nice feature. anyone got any input? thanks.

Do you mean the S&W bodyguard 380?

I have heard lots of bad things. Many shooters will shoot less than 50 shots and the trigger just fails. Google it.

I've got one from about 4 months ago; have put about three hundred rounds of WWB, Magtech, as well as S&B through it with only one FTF in the 2nd mag nothing since then. It has a rather long DAO trigger that makes it kind of tiring to shoot much but as a pocket self defense gun I've no complaint as while it is not the smallest or the lightest it is right down the middle here. The laser is a bit odd to turn on/off but if you train to keep your finger out of the guard until ready to fire you can train yourself to finger the laser button without too much trouble.

I put the full array of Buffalo Bore 380s through a Bodyguard 380 along with some generic ball ammunition. I was amazed that it worked ( I'm amazed when any pocket sized pistol actually works.)* There were no malfunctions. I had a couple of people shoot it- a man and a woman and both remarked about how comfortable it was and easy to shoot.
The bodyguard revolver I shot at about the same time was markedly defective- the odd ball hand replacement they used would bounce out of register and fail to advance the cylinder for the next shot.

shot through the texas chl qualifier

* This may be the only bg that does.

Mine has about 350 rounds through it, mixed FMJ & JHP with no malfunctions. I carry it on the rare occassion I need a pocket gun instead of a 1911. These shots were just after the initial range session where I shot about 200 rounds through it without needing to clean or relube it.

well it's nice to see that actual owners of the gun seem pleased with their purchase. i will report on the gun when my son takes it out. hopefully i'll be with him and get a few shots with it myself.

You might take a look at the Bodyguard380 (.) Com forum. There are still mixed reviews.
