You might remember my post from last week about my new Gen 4 Glock 27. This was my first Gen4 and I quickly grew to like it much more than I thought I would.

With that said, I decided yesterday to stop by Glockmeister and pick up a new Glock 23 Gen4 to go with it. I like buying my Glocks from Glockmeister for a couple of reasons. First, they are the cheapest local shop on their Gen4 prices; and second, because I can have the gun upgraded with night sights before I even leave the store. So I stopped in, picked out the gun, had them throw some Meprolight's, a smooth trigger, and a 3.5lb connector on it and I was on my way in less than 30 min.

Went out by lake pleasant to go dirt bike riding yesterday afternoon with a friend and brought the new G23 along as well. Got out to a very remote area and put 100 rounds through the gun, fresh out of the box. No issues, of course. The gun feels good. Recoil feels less than the Gen 3 I used to have. I'll be taking it to the range more this week to get a better feel for it. Overall, I really like the gun and Gen 4 series as well.

To go along with the gun, I found a Galco KingTuk holster. I didn't realize Galco was making these. They are basically a clone of the Crossbreed SuperTuck or the Comp-Tac MTAC holsters. The quality seems very good. It's two layers of leather - saddle quality leather on the back and soft black napa leather on the front. Metal belt clips that are depth adjustable and a thin molded kydex shell are present on the outside. I haven't actually gone out in public to carry this yet, but so far it seems pretty nice around the house. I also like that I can use the holster with my G27 as well. The Galco is cut similar to the SuperTuck with their 'combat cut.' The Galco was $50 and available right now vs. a similar SuperTuck set up running around $90 with a 4-6 week wait.

I'll try to get some good pics taken shortly and update this thread with them. For now, here's an image of the holster with a Gen 3 Glock that I found online:

After spending the weekend carrying the G23 in the KingTuk, I can say that I am a fan. It's comfortable to carry all day. Sitting on the couch, at my desk, in my car, walking around, in the store. It has good concealability as well as good support.

I like this new holster and I like the Gen4 Glock 23 as well. Going to hit the range today with 200 rounds of 180gr Lawman and 50 rounds of 180gr Federal HST.

Yeah, I like it.

Just got back from the range after putting 150 Lawman and 50 HST through the gun. Shoots great. No issues. My groups could have been a little better, but that's my fault, not the guns. :)

Did my usual under cut on the trigger guard to make it much more ergonomic and get my hand up just a little higher. Makes a huge difference in how well the gun fits, and eliminated "glock knuckle".

I actually did this on Saturday shortly after taking the original pictures. Just now got around to getting some updates after cleaning from today's range trip. That's why the frame looks a little shiny. Some residual remoil that will be gone shortly.

I told myself I wasnt going buy a crossbreed. Well this is just like it. I heard some bad things about kydex... I hope I made a good move. I know people love these holsters. It also fits 19/26 models so its a double holster. For $50 I couldn't pass when a crossbreed is $90 + shipping.

Just orderd it!

Thanks for the info on the holster! I had no idea galco was making a holster like this.

Yeah, I like it a lot. I wore it all day through work today and on my 1 hour commute each way. Very comfortable. I'm happy with it, especially for the price.

I have the Comp-Tac MTAC holster for the M&P, but when I saw that they changed the design a little and I can no longer order shells without purchasing a new backing, I figured I'd give the Galco a shot.

How did you do that undercut?

How did you do that undercut?

Dremel. Slow and progressive. I've done a lot of them now. The first time I was nervous, but take your time. It's not hard.

Start with the sanding drum:

Then use the smoothing stone drum:

Finally, I like to finish it up by hitting a little with the buffing wheel:

Take your time, test it often. You'll know when you get the feel right. It makes a huge difference.

I've also done the thinned out and rounded trigger guard on them too. That's more for aesthetics than anything. Some people like it, some don't.

I just checked my email, and my galco king tuk is on backorder now lol..... They ran out.

Every website I been to has been sold out/back order.

How did you do that undercut?

I like the cut and I don't. It looks like it could damage the gun, if it ever dropped.

Not sure what you mean? Because the trigger guard is a little thinner at the back end now? It's not thin enough to break. The Glock polymer is very strong. I've tried to squeeze and bend it. No luck, even after doing a complete thinned out trigger guard on a G19RTF. Never caused any issues.

Like so:
