Well Im looking for a rifle in 762x39 and under 800. M1A would be ideal but cannot afford it so maybe mini30? Preferably something I would be able to buy new. How do you guys feel about the WASR10's? What else is in x39 besides AK's SKS's and 30's?

my bushmaster 762x39 ar15 cost me 900 bucks. A bit more then you want to spend but its been a very reliable gun.

I have a mini-30, good rifle. Very reliable, not tremendously accurate though (2MOA with GOOD ammo)

CZ makes a dandy of a bolt gun in 7.62x39

Try a Saiga. Made in same Russian factory as the AK-47. Comes in sporting format, I paid $399.

Should have been more specific, I want something semi auto, and in wood. The mini 30 would be the only exception to synthetic. Keep em comiing. Do they make the siaga in wood?

I believe only the Saiga chambered in .308 comes in wood, the 7.62x39 would require an aftermarket purchase.

The Saiga is built to eat cheap Russian ammo. It's very robust. That might save some dough. 1,000 rounds can be had for around $200.

So $400 for the rifle, $200? for wood furniture, and $200 for 1k rounds. $800 bucks total. You get it all and are still within budget.

I would second the Saiga's. Good rifle for great price.

M1A's are out because they are in .308 not 7.62x39
