Prefered direction for drifting sights ???

Guess I'm questioning my memory but as I recal, the prefered direction for drifting and removing open sights is as follows;

Removal; Left to right with muzzle pointing away from you.
Installing; Right to left, again with the muzzle pointing away from you.

What say Y'all ?? Does this sound right??? ... :confused:

That is the way I was taught but I'm sure there are exceptions.

is your dovetail tapered? if so, how would you drift the sight for windage? if not, why does it matter?

The above is correct for US made guns, but be careful on the European makes - it may be the opposite.
