Did colt ever put out a stainless M1911 in '43? I have a feeling not, but there is someone I am talking with that says he has one. I think it might be nickled.
Thanks,
Devin

No.
The first stainless steel gun was, as far as I know, the S&W Model 60.

They also made part of the gas system on the M1 Rifle out of stainless steel.

And as a historical footnote, the US Navy made stainless steel deck guns for submarines, and a very few experimental stainless steel M1-A1 Thompson Submachine guns.
Then there was the 1932 Colt/Springfield bronze 1911 pistol:

How about the first stainless 1911 pistol?
The AMT Hardballer! (don't throw any rotten tomatoes at me!)

Almost certainly. Could possibly be hard chrome, but not likely. Either way, it's not the original finish.
