I have a full size Remington R1. I would like to have an IWB holster for it for ccw. Any suggestions?

I use a Tagua IWB. You can get a 3 inch, 4 inch maybe a 5 inch but the 4 inch holster will cover a full size 5 inch 1911 completely. 3 inch will cover the trigger of a 5 inch (where it really counts) but not the whole slide like the 4 inch holster will. It also has a real strong clip so you can attach it to any belt you have.

Milt Sparks VMII or TT Gunleather copy of the VMII. The only negitive, is the 9 month wait for the VMII, or the 5 month wait for the TT.

The Sparks Versa Max is often considered the gold standard for IWB holsters, though there are several similar holsters on the market. The VM can be hard to get and there is a significant wait time if you order from Sparks:

The Sparks Summer Special II is another classic IWB design. I like it for quick on and off. Again, there are several others who make similar holsters:

One thing you want is a leather guard on the backside so that the gun does not rub or gouge your side.

Brownells usually has the Sparks Summer Special in stock. The SS is probably the most successful and most copied IWB of all time.

Many forum members ask about IWB holsters for 1911 series pistols.

I'd look into Milt Sparks, Mitch Rosen, Ted Blocker(the Ayoob-LFI rig), Blade-tech holsters, COM holsters, Don Hume, Greg Kramer(Kramer holsters), Ken Null, High Noon Holsters(the man made skin-tite line), El Paso Saddlery.

I'm not a big fan of 1911a1 pistols or the popular IWB carry but there are many well made rigs(holsters-belts) on the US market.

A lot of choices out there, just make sure the holster has a sweat shield. It will keep the gun off your skin with the IWB. Most holsters have this but you might want to make sure before you buy. Good Luck and let us know what you got.

Another vote for the Silent Thunder. Besides being "tuckable" the cant and tension are also adjustable.

My vote goes to the Galco Summer Comfort.

I've carried a full size 1911 in one for many years with no problems. The price is right and you don't have to wait six months for it to arrive.
